Editorial Cartoonist and Comic Strip Artist, Dana J. Summers, has been drawing for most of his adult life and started cartooning in the 1970s, freelancing for weekly and college newspapers across New England. To support his starving artist lifestyle he has been employed by a couple of major newspapers across the country such as The Orlando Sentinel, The Dayton Journal Herald and The Fayetteville Times, just to name a few.
His mainstay comic strips, Bound & Gagged and the Middletons, which he draws with fellow cartoonist Ralph Dunagin, have been syndicated for over twenty-five years. His Political Cartoons have been published in The New York Times, The Washington Post, U.S. News and World Report, TIME, Newsweek, and Sports Illustrated.
Dana has received many honors and accolades for his work from such organizations as The Overseas Press Club, The National Headliners Awards, Society of Professional Journalists, Florida Society of Newspaper Editors, Florida Sunshine Awards and Green Eyeshade Awards.
Born in Lawrence Massachusetts, Dana is a graduate of The Art Institute of Boston and the Massachusetts College of Art. He lives with his wife in sunny Orlando, Florida where he spends almost all of his free time lounging in his pool.
